Believe it or not, but many injuries can result from a sustained posture or position whilst at work; for example, continuous lifting or overhead work, sitting behind a desk or leaning over a patient. Even sometimes just the long travel to and from work can cause pain and dysfunction through areas of the body.
Many people spend months and even years changing other parts of their lifestyle including diet, physical activity or sleeping behaviour to counteract the pain and discomfort they feel during the day. Yet most of us don’t realise we are often sacrificing our body’s posture, to fit within our workplace, rather than changing our work environment to fit with our bodies.
At heart&soul clinical myotherapy, we believe changing the work environment to fit with our body’s range of movement and postures is imperative to help maintaining and reducing discomfort and episodic pain.
We work closely with the patient to firstly indentify and reduce the pain and discomfort, then work on maintaining the decreased level of pain by equipping the patient with the knowledge and education to assess and modify if needed, the workplace ergonomics. A huge emphasis is also placed on strengthening areas of the body, so that it can cope with an altered, sustained working position if needed.
We treat a wide variety of workplace injuries including:
- Headaches
- Migraines
- Upper/Lower Cross Syndrome
- Shoulder Injuries
- Wrist Pain
- Lower Back injuries including disk dysfunction
- Sciatica
- And many more occupational related injuries…
